Heredia Trains are on Their Way

The Trains that Costa Rica will have for the routes between San José and Heredia are already in a Spanish port.

The Spanish company Ferrocarriles de Via Estrecha (Narrow Gauge Trains) already began the shipment despite the delays that have existed for the shipment.

For the president of the Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (INCOFER, Costa Rican Railway Institute), Miguel Carabaguíaz, FEVE confirmed that the trains are ready for shipment. Likewise, the Costa Rican ambassador to Spain, Melvin Sáenz, made the confirmation through the EFE news agency.

Saenz said that he was present when the four trains were loaded on the ship Terry Siete in the Spanish port of Aviles.

These are four diesel electric 2400 trains known as Apollo. There was also a confirmation of the purchase of four more trains for 2010.

FEVE also stated that although these units are used, they have had integral reforms both in technology and in their interior, this to enhance safety in commuting.

FEVE technicians will come to the country to adapt the machines to achieve the requirements of the country and ensure the existence of spare parts, sheets, specifications, blue prints, driving manuals and technical documentation.

At TicosLand.com, we hope that these machines come to be a good solution to the public transport problem and that these are functional in our country because the investment is quite high.
