Nicaraguan TV Channel 2 against Costa Rica
After watching the video link above, which is a program broadcast by Channel 2 in Nicaragua, what can they ask of Costa Rica?
It is worrying to see how a program that is broadcast in their country on a national level refers to Costa Ricans in this crude manner, using vulgar, offensive and denigrating phrases.
In addition, they promote violence against Costa Ricans. They do want their rights in Costa Rica recognized, but they do not contribute to tolerance but rather promote and stimulate hatred and attacks against Costa Ricans.
You cannot demand good treatment if they do not treat us well, if they use the media to disseminate a negative image of Costa Rica in Nicaragua.
There is certainly a derogatory treatment of Nicaraguans in Costa Rica in many occasions, but we have worked to bring about change toward them as a way of acknowledging how much they large numbers of people from Nicaragua contribute in Costa Rica.
You cannot ask for something that they are unwilling to give in their land, when some of them so directly and without any care disrespect us in their country.
Good treatment cannot be achieved without first stimulating it in their country in a proper way. In Costa Rica we do not see any television program that refers to them in such an offensive manner. Even if there are people on our television programs that do parodies, they have never been so insulting.
So where then does that leave the work of so many Nicaraguans in Costa Rica, who gives the best of themselves in our country results in our country, if they so directly insult us via the television in theirs?
We cannot remain silent in TicosLand.com when something like this is found. Our country is not only a place where you can come and work. It is also a place to build brotherhood between both sides of the border. However, if something like this appears, then where are we going?
If you want to read more about Costa Rica and what's going on, don't fail to read the TicosLand.com internal Costa Rica blog.
